Day 14 - Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In

Even though we wake up to 45-degree mornings in Savannah, the sound of the birds chirping reminded me of waking up down the Cape, so it’s hard to wake up a little mad. After we finished packing up the campground it was about 11:30 am. It is about five and a half hours to Valkaria, FL so we anticipated a whole day of traveling.

What makes the drive worthwhile though is seeing nothing but blue skies and having the warm sun toasting the car right up. With nothing but fantastic weather in the forecast, we knew we were going to like our time in Florida.

Our destination is the house of a friend of Emma’s family. His name is Ralph and he is a ‘year rounder’ in Orleans, MA. He is lucky enough to spend the winter months here in (Melbourne) and ha allowed Emma, Andy, and I to make a rest stop on our way towards Miami.

We spent the night talking and while Ralph was showing us his backyard, which has its own pond, he was telling us how there are snakes and wild pigs in the area and that a few hours north of us thee are some bears and deer. I thought that the only things to be found in Florida were oranges and retired senior citizens driving motor scooters.

Anyway…off to Miami in the morning!
