Day 19 - Blue Green Day

The night out on the town in Key West did us all good. The sun woke us up again and we decided to go to the Everglades National Park a day earlier than planned. Knowing that it was about a 4 hour drive we got our stuff together and was off before we knew it.

The ride back through the Keys was just as good as coming in. The only thing that stunk about it was the fact we were leaving the Keys. It kind of makes me tear up just thinking about it. Such a sad thing to do.

The Everglades National Park is one of the biggest national parks in the continental U.S. It certainly did not disappoint. I never knew this but the Everglades takes up the whole southern tip of Florida. The campsite we were staying at was basically at the southern tip of the mainland. In fact, it takes about an hour to get to the campground from the actual park entrance. When we got there there was plenty of green plants all around and thankfully there was a lack of alligators near our campsite. I think that the winter is there dry season, so it wasn't as swamp-like as I was expecting.

During the night the wind had really picked up. Sometimes I thought we would end up being whisked away and landing on the Wicked Witch from the East.
