I really didn’t know too much about Phoenix before we got there. We looked up things to do the night before and decided not to just narrow our search to Phoenix but we then added Scottsdale too.
Downtown Phoenix was very nice. The first thing I took from it was that it was very clean and new looking. The Arizona State University was in the heart of downtown and once again being back on a college campus was both nostalgic and depressing. We walked around the town and found this cool little shopping plaza with really great landscaping and totally outside. The weather was warm for us, but we kept on seeing people in long sleeves and coats…go figure.
Once we got the gist of downtown Phoenix we headed towards Scottsdale to see what that was all about. Driving through there I could already tell that this was a nice suburban with wealthy people living in it. All the houses were relatively new and it just seemed like a place where lots of people could imaging themselves retiring there….which my mom later informed me that lots of people do.
In Scottsdale we stopped by some outdoor shopping plazas and at this point we were just happy that the weather had been so beautiful and happy just to be walking outside. Later we grabbed a very late lunch and headed back to the hotel. We had to start looking for a hotel for Vegas.
Tomorrow we head north for the Grand Canyon!
